If you know someone who is ill, you may want to do something for that individual or take a gift along when you visit them. Flowers are a very common gift for the sick and can be thoughtful and welcome for many people but there are a few things to consider before you dive in to your purchase. When dealing with live flowers and plants for those who are ill, you need to be sure you understand any restrictions placed on them regarding live plants, particularly if they are hospitalized.

When giving the the gift of flowers (or a potted plant) to someone feeling under the weather, you may need a bit of help deciding which make the best choices for a particular person and their circumstances. So, with that in mind, here are some things to think about if you would like to buy "Get Well" flowers.

1. Hospitalization - If the person receiving the flowers is in the hospital, there may be limits on the types of flowers they can have in their hospital room because of the allergy risks of more fragrant flowers. Choose less fragrant flowers for anyone in the hospital to ensure they will be allowed to keep them.
